Louisville Irish First to Salute the New Year

Following the clocks in Dublin, Ireland, the New Year will be welcomed at 7 p.m at Flanagan’s Ale House, with a special toast and bagpipe salute. The evening features Irish music, beer and menu specials to help raise funds for the annual St. Patrick’s parade.

The celebration is always open to the public, with a small cover charge which includes Party Favors. Features of the evening include the following:
• Medley of Irish music to set the mood
• Irish specialties corned beef and cabbage and Irish Stew added to menu options
• Countdown to New Year’s leading to Jameson toast at 7 p.m. Bagpipe New Year’s salute and Auld Lang Syne.

AOH is an Irish-Catholic fraternal organization that has sponsored the St. Patrick’s Parades in Louisville since the mid-1970’s. It currently has over 180 members in Louisville — ranging in ages and all walks of life. It is the oldest and largest Irish cultural organization in the U.S. with roots back 300 years to groups of the same name in Ireland.

The parade has seen upwards of 100,000 to Baxter Ave. and Bardstown Rd to watch over 140 units march in honor of St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland.
